Accommodation

Burnfield has 40 single bedrooms for Residents, set out over two floors. There are three wings to the building and on each floor each wing serves as a small individual unit with its own communal lounge, open-plan kitchen and dining area.

The bedrooms in these units open directly out on to these communal spaces, thus creating a private, more homely environment than other alternative care home designs. The six separate units vary in size between five and eight bedrooms.

Rooms are cleaned daily and bed linen changed at least once a week – more often if required. Residents are encouraged to bring in personal furnishings provided they comply with current health & safety standards. Any electrical equipment brought into the Home must first be checked by our in-house maintenance team.

Throughout the Home we have a variety of communal areas and lounges for the private use of our Residents and their relatives / visitors. In terms of floor area the communal living areas in the Home by far exceed the National Minimum Standards.

In the general interest and to maintain the tranquillity of the Home, we do not operate televisions in public areas except on special occasions. However, all Residents’ rooms are fitted with television points as standard.

In addition to the en-suite bathrooms, the Home has many special bath and shower areas suitable for our less able Residents. These facilities allow easy access for Residents who have difficulty using a standard bath. Extensive use is made of modern aids by properly trained staff to make bathing more comfortable. Bathrooms and shower rooms have locks that allow staff to gain access easily in an emergency.

Two lifts in the building enable Residents to move around the Home independently.
